A workshop was conducted within the University of Zarqa - College of Nursing on Sunday, December 24, 2023, titled "Stem Cells and Umbilical Cord Blood Preservation."
The workshop was attended by the Dean of the College of Nursing, Dr. Ahmed Ryan, along with several faculty members, undergraduate and postgraduate students from the College of Nursing, and students from the College of Allied Medical Sciences.
The workshop addressed the recent scientific developments in stem cell research from umbilical cord blood, methods of extracting stem cells from cord tissue, and their role in treating refractory diseases. It also discussed the potential of converting cord blood cells into different cell types. Additionally, the workshop highlighted the nursing role in maternal awareness and sample collection.
Furthermore, the workshop delved into the discussion of how to preserve stem cells for future use in treating various diseases. Dr. Ryan emphasized that the College of Nursing is committed to organizing scientific workshops that discuss recent scientific advancements, contributing to enhancing the competence of both faculty members and students alike.
