Cell and Gene Therapy

By the end of this course, participants should be able to:

1. Acquire a comprehensive understanding of cell and gene therapies, including modern techniques, challenges, and clinical applications.

 2. Differentiate between the various types of cell therapies and their wide applications, including stem cell and immunotherapies, both genetically modified and non-modified, and to explain the mechanisms of genetic modification.

 3. Be aware of the mechanisms of gene therapies and their clinical applications, such as treatments for Duchenne muscular dystrophy, dystrophic epidermolysis bullosa, RPE65-associated retinal dystrophy, and hemophilia.

 4. Comprehend the manufacturing challenges in cell and gene therapies, particularly autologous (self) versus allogeneic (donor) treatments.

 5. Actively engage in scientific research in advanced therapies and contribute innovative ideas for their development.
